The M&P USA Z55 MagneRide bypass kit (a GM MagneRide delete kit for the Z55 AutoRide system) lets you replace the factory AutoRide shocks and electronic struts, including worn-out rear air-ride shocks, with standard passive shocks or coilovers without the “Service Suspension System” warning or fault codes. Each kit includes 2 shock simulators and 2 ride height sensor simulators for one axle. The front plugs straight into the factory connectors; the rear 2-pin connectors need our pigtails spliced in, included free when you order two kits or the 2-axle kit. The short answer
- Right kit if your glove box label shows Z55 on a 2005-2014 Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban, or Yukon, or a 2007-2013 Avalanche LTZ.
- One kit covers one axle. For front and rear, the Z55 2-axle kit covers all four corners for less than two single kits and includes the rear pigtails free.
- Front plugs in; the rear needs pigtails. Converting only the rear? Add the Z55 pigtail adapter set, spliced onto the rear wires.

Is this the right Z55 MagneRide bypass kit?
Use this kit if you have a GM truck or SUV with the Z55 AutoRide suspension package (see the fitment table below) and you are removing or replacing the factory shocks.
Use a different kit if
- Your vehicle is a car (Corvette C6, CTS, CTS-V, XLR, STS, DTS): use our 1997-2012 strut bypass kit. Cars at stock ride height don’t need ride height simulators. If your car is lowered or raised outside the factory range, some models need them, so contact us first.
- Your SUV or truck is a 2015-2020 model (or a 2015-2018 Sierra 1500 Denali) with Z95 MagneRide: use our Z95 bypass kit.
- Your SUV is a 2021-2023 model: use our 2021-2023 kit.

2009-2014 Escalade? Check your code
Cadillac used both Z55 AutoRide and Z95 MagneRide on the 2009-2014 Escalade, so on those models the year alone won’t tell you which kit you need.

One kit per axle, and the rear pigtails
Each Z55 MagneRide bypass kit covers one axle (front OR rear). The front plugs straight into the factory connectors. The rear 2-pin connectors on air-ride trucks and SUVs are a different style, so they take our Z55 pigtail adapter set, spliced onto the rear wires with the included waterproof heat-shrink connectors.
- Front and rear: the Z55 2-axle kit (pigtails included free), or two single kits (we include the pigtails free).
- Front only: one Z55 MagneRide bypass kit, no pigtails needed.
- Rear only: one Z55 MagneRide bypass kit plus the pigtail adapter set.
What’s included
- 2 shock simulators (also called delete modules or bypass resistors): replace the electronic signal from the factory shocks so the suspension module sees a normal system.
- 2 ride height simulators: keep the ride height sensor circuit reading normally. GM trucks and SUVs with this system require these to prevent suspension fault codes.
- Zip ties for mounting, plus printed installation instructions.
- Rear pigtails: included free when you order two kits, or sold separately.

For trucks and SUVs equipped with the Z55 AutoRide package. Where it says check label, GM used more than one system in those years, so confirm Z55 on your glove box label first.

How to install the Z55 MagneRide bypass kit
- 1Install the ride height simulators first. With the vehicle off and safely raised, release the locking tab on each factory ride height sensor connector, unplug it, and plug in a 3-pin ride height simulator until it clicks.
- 2Cycle the power. Turn the vehicle on for 30 seconds, then off, so the suspension module reads the new ride height.
- 3Install the shock simulators. Unplug the 2-pin connector from each factory shock and plug in a shock simulator until it clicks. On rear air-ride connectors, splice the pigtail onto the factory wires first, then plug in the simulator.
- 4Secure everything. Zip-tie the ride height simulators through their mounting hole and the shock simulators around their neck. Keep all parts away from the exhaust and other heat sources, and do not secure them against plastic wire loom or wiring. A metal surface is best.
- 5Lower the vehicle, clear codes, and trim. With all four wheels on the ground, start the vehicle. Suspension codes clear within up to 40 ignition cycles, with a scan tool, or by disconnecting the battery for at least 30 minutes. Then perform a Ride Height Trim Procedure with a scan tool: required on GMC Denali models and recommended on all other vehicles. Any mechanic or dealership can do it in a few minutes.

Which vehicles does the Z55 MagneRide bypass kit fit?

What’s the difference between AutoRide and MagneRide?
Both are GM electronic suspension systems with sensor-monitored shocks. Z55 AutoRide was used on most 2005-2014 GM trucks and SUVs, and Z95 MagneRide on most 2015-2020 models. The connectors and signals differ, so each needs its own kit. People often call both systems MagneRide.
Do I need the rear pigtails?
On air-ride trucks and SUVs, yes: the rear 2-pin connector is a different style than the front. The pigtails convert it so the Z55 MagneRide bypass kit plugs in. This step means cutting the factory connector and splicing the pigtail on. Order two kits or the 2-axle kit and we include the pigtails free.
Does it work with rear air suspension (air ride)?
Yes. Many customers use the Z55 MagneRide bypass kit when replacing worn-out rear air shocks with standard shocks or coilovers. If you switch to non-air rear shocks, you can generally pull the fuse or the relay for the leveling compressor once the bypass is installed; leave the compressor itself plugged in.
Why does my dashboard say “Service Suspension System”?
The suspension module monitors every shock and ride height sensor. When a shock fails or is replaced with a standard shock, the module loses the signal it expects and sets the warning. The simulators in the Z55 MagneRide bypass kit give the module the signals it expects, so the warning clears once the codes are cleared.
Can I use it with a lift or leveling kit?
Yes. Customers have installed the Z55 MagneRide bypass kit with leveling kits, lift kits, and lowering kits. The ride height simulators send the module a steady, normal reading, so the height change does not set suspension codes.
Is this the same as an AutoRide delete resistor?
It does the same job. You may see these parts called MagneRide or AutoRide delete kits, delete resistors, bypass resistors, delete modules, delete plugs, or shock simulators. Our Z55 MagneRide bypass kit is a complete set with sealed, weatherproof OEM-style connectors and includes the ride height simulators that trucks and SUVs need.
Do I need one kit or two?
One Z55 MagneRide bypass kit covers one axle. Converting both the front and rear takes two kits, with the rear pigtails included free, or our Z55 2-axle kit, which has both axles and the pigtails in one box.
Will it work on my Corvette or CTS?
No. Cars use our 1997-2012 strut bypass kit instead. Cars at stock ride height don’t need ride height simulators.
