2021-2023 MagneRide bypass guide (Z45 kit)
For 2021-2023 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and GMC Yukon Denali and Denali XL. Not for Silverado or Sierra pickups.
Written by M&P USA, the veteran-owned company that designs, builds, and supports these kits in the USA.
A Z45 MagneRide delete, also called a MagneRide bypass, lets you replace the factory magnetic ride shocks on a 2021-2023 Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban, or Yukon Denali with coilovers or standard shocks, without the “Service Suspension System” warning. This guide shows how to tell these SUVs apart from older models and pickups, what the bypass does, and exactly what to order.
The short answer
- For 2021-2023 SUVs only. Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and GMC Yukon Denali and Denali XL with MagneRide take the 2021-2023 kit (sold as Z45).
- Not for pickups. It does not fit the 2019-2023 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra Denali, and it is not for SUVs with Air Ride Adaptive Suspension.
- One kit covers one axle. For all four corners, the 2021-2023 2-axle kit costs less than two single kits.
- No cutting, splicing, or programming. The simulators plug into the newer factory connectors GM introduced on these SUVs.
Pick the kit by model year
These SUVs are easy to mix up with the 2015-2020 models, because the glove box label on a 2021-2023 SUV still shows the code Z95. GM changed the shock connectors for 2021, so the older kit will not plug in. Go by model year:
- 2021-2023: the 2021-2023 kit, even though the label says Z95
- 2015-2020: the Z95 kit, see our Z95 guide
- 2005-2012: the Z55 kit, see our Z55 guide
About the name: we sell this kit as Z45 to tell it apart from our Z95 kit. GM uses its own RPO code Z45 for Adaptive Ride Control on 2019 and newer pickups, which this kit does not fit. If a parts list says Z45, check whether it means a pickup or an SUV.
Before you buy parts, enter your VIN in the NHTSA recall lookup to check for open safety recalls; recall repairs are free at a dealer.
GM also changed connector styles partway through some model years. If your connector looks different from the one in our product photos, send us your VIN before you order.

Planning an Escalade MagneRide delete on a 2021-2023 model? This is the kit, and the same goes for the Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon Denali.
2024 and newer: fitment is not confirmed yet. Contact us with your VIN before ordering.
What it does not fit
- 2019-2023 Chevrolet Silverado (any trim) and 2019-2023 GMC Sierra Denali. These pickups look similar but use a different system and connectors.
- SUVs with Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. Those use air at all four corners, and this kit does not cover them.
- 2020 and older SUVs. Use the Z95 kit (2015-2020) or the Z55 kit (2005-2012).
- Cars. GM cars with MagneRide use our 2013-2018 strut bypass kit or 1997-2012 strut bypass kit; see our MagneRide bypass guide for cars.
How 2021-2023 MagneRide works
MagneRide, also called Magnetic Ride Control, uses shocks filled with fluid that carries fine iron particles. A coil inside each shock changes how thick that fluid acts, so the suspension control module can firm up or soften each corner many times per second.
Ride height sensors at the wheels tell the module how high the body sits. Both signals, the shock coils and the ride height sensors, must look normal or the module sets a fault.
Signs your MagneRide is failing
- “Service Suspension System” on the dash
- A harsh, bouncy, or floaty ride, or more body lean in turns
- An oily film on a shock body, which means the seal is leaking
- Warnings after installing coilovers or aftermarket shocks, because the module no longer sees the factory shocks
How the plug-in bypass works
The shock simulators plug into the factory shock connectors and give the module the electrical load it expects. The ride height simulators plug into the factory ride height sensor connectors and send a steady, in-range signal. The module sees a healthy system, so no fault is set and the warning stays off.
Everything connects at the corners with sealed, weatherproof OEM-style connectors, built for the newer connector style GM uses on these SUVs. Nothing gets cut, nothing gets programmed, and nothing plugs into your OBD port.
“Installed these in a 2023 Chevy Suburban after my shop and I installed Kings coilover suspension. Plug and play with no lights on the dash.”

| Your plan | Order this |
|---|---|
| Front only or rear only | One Z45 MagneRide delete kit |
| All four corners | The 2021-2023 2-axle kit, or two single kits |
| Ride height simulators only | ride height 2-pack (one axle) or 4-pack (both axles); they fit 2021-2023 and Z95 models |
Installation in five steps
- Ride height first. With the vehicle off and safely raised, plug a 3-pin ride height simulator into each factory ride height sensor connector until it clicks.
- Cycle the power. Turn the vehicle on for 30 seconds, then off, so the module reads the new ride height.
- Shocks and shock simulators. Install your new shocks or coilovers, then plug a shock simulator into each factory shock connector.
- Secure everything. Zip-tie the simulators to a metal surface, away from the exhaust and other heat, and not against plastic wire loom.
- Clear codes and trim. With the wheels on the ground, clear the codes (scan tool, up to 40 ignition cycles, or the battery off for 30 minutes). Then have a Ride Height Trim done with a scan tool: required on GMC Denali models, recommended on all others.
Every kit ships with printed instructions, and US-based support is a message away. We recommend installation by a certified technician.
Frequently asked questions
Which vehicles does the 2021-2023 kit fit?
2021-2023 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and GMC Yukon Denali and Yukon Denali XL with MagneRide.
My 2021-2023 SUV label says Z95. Which kit?
Use the 2021-2023 kit. GM kept the Z95 code on these SUVs but changed the connectors, so the older Z95 kit will not plug in. Pick the kit by model year.
Will it fit my Silverado or Sierra Denali?
No. It does not fit the 2019-2023 Chevrolet Silverado or the 2019-2023 GMC Sierra Denali. Those trucks use a different system and connectors.
Does it work with Air Ride Adaptive Suspension?
No. SUVs with Air Ride use air at all four corners, and this kit does not cover them.
What about 2024 and newer models?
Fitment for 2024 and newer is not confirmed yet. Contact us with your VIN before ordering.
Can I install coilovers or regular shocks?
Yes. That is what it is designed for. Customers run it with aftermarket coilovers on 2021 and newer Suburbans with no dash lights.
Do I need one kit or two?
One kit converts one axle. For all four corners, order the 2021-2023 2-axle kit, which costs less than two single kits.
Does it require cutting wires or programming?
No. It plugs into the factory connectors. After installation, a Ride Height Trim with a scan tool is required on GMC Denali models and recommended on all others.
Why is it called the Z45 MagneRide delete kit?
We named it Z45 to tell it apart from our Z95 kit. GM uses the RPO code Z45 for Adaptive Ride Control on 2019 and newer pickups, which this kit does not fit.
What warranty comes with it?
A lifetime warranty on every part, from a veteran-owned business that makes the kits in the USA.
