MagneRide delete kit for 1997-2012 GM cars
Shock simulators for the Corvette C5 and C6, Cadillac CTS, DTS, STS, Seville, XLR, and SRX, and Buick Lucerne and LaCrosse. Not for trucks or SUVs.
The M&P USA MagneRide delete kit for 1997-2012 cars (also called a MagneRide bypass resistor kit or active electronic strut bypass kit) lets you replace the factory GM Magnetic Selective Ride Control, MagneRide, or electronic shocks with coilovers or passive shocks, without the “Service Suspension System” or “Shocks Inoperative” warning, fault codes, or the 80 mph speed limit that can come with them. Each kit includes 2 shock simulators that plug into the factory connectors on one axle. Designed by a US Marine Corps veteran electrical engineer, made in the USA, and backed by our lifetime warranty.
The short answer
- Right kit for 1997-2012 GM cars with magnetic or electronic shocks: Corvette C5 and C6 (C6 through 2013), Cadillac CTS, DTS, STS, Seville, XLR, and SRX, and Buick Lucerne and LaCrosse.
- 2013 or newer car, or a 2012 Camaro ZL1? Use the 2013-2018 strut bypass kit instead.
- One kit covers one axle. All four corners take two kits. Cars at stock ride height don’t need ride height simulators.
- Truck or SUV? This kit isn’t enough; see below. Need more detail? Read our MagneRide bypass resistor guide for cars.

Trucks and SUVs: this kit is not enough
GM trucks and SUVs (Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Avalanche, Sierra Denali) also monitor 3-pin ride height sensors and need ride height simulators. Using this kit alone on a truck or SUV is not a proper long-term solution. Use our complete kits instead: Z55 (2005-2012), Z95 (2015-2020), or Z45 (2021-2023). 2013-2014 trucks and SUVs can be Z55 or Z95, so check the glove box label.
C6 Corvette and XLR rear: one quick step
On many C6 Corvettes (2005-2013) and Cadillac XLRs, the front plugs right in, but the rear factory plug won’t seat until you remove the small plastic tab in the center of the simulator’s connector. Snip or break off that one center tab, and the rear plug clicks in and works normally. It takes a minute. Contact us if you’re unsure, and we’ll walk you through it.
Is this the right MagneRide delete kit?
Use this MagneRide delete kit if you have a 1997-2012 GM car with Magnetic Selective Ride Control, MagneRide, or electronic shocks (see the fitment table below) and you are removing or replacing the factory shocks or struts.
Use a different kit if
- Your car is a 2013 or newer model, or a 2012 Camaro ZL1: use our 2013-2018 strut bypass kit.
- Your vehicle is a truck or SUV: use our Z55, Z95, or Z45 kit, which include the ride height simulators trucks and SUVs need.
- Your car is lowered or raised outside the factory ride height range: some models also need ride height simulators, so contact us first.
Not sure? Use our Find My Kit tool or send us your year, make, and model and we’ll confirm the right kit before you order.
Before you buy parts, enter your VIN in the NHTSA recall lookup to check for open safety recalls; recall repairs are free at a dealer.
One kit per axle
Each MagneRide delete kit covers one axle (front OR rear). To convert all four corners, order two kits.
What’s included

- 2 shock simulators (also called bypass resistors or delete modules): replace the electronic signal from the factory shocks so the suspension module sees a normal system.
- Zip ties for mounting, plus printed installation instructions.

1997-2012 MagneRide delete kit fitment
For the following GM cars equipped with Magnetic Selective Ride Control, MagneRide, or electronic shocks:

| Years | Make | Model | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1997-2004 | Chevrolet | Corvette C5 | Plug and play |
| 2005-2013 | Chevrolet | Corvette C6 | Rear: remove the small center tab |
| 2004-2009 | Cadillac | XLR, XLR-V | Rear: remove the small center tab |
| 2005-2012 | Cadillac | CTS, CTS-V | Plug and play |
| 2006-2011 | Cadillac | DTS | Plug and play |
| 2003-2011 | Cadillac | STS, Seville | Early Seville may need the universal adapter |
| 2004-2009 | Cadillac | SRX | Contact us first (some need ride height simulators) |
| 2006-2011 | Buick | Lucerne (CXS) | Plug and play |
| 2010-2012 | Buick | LaCrosse | Needs the universal adapter |
Universal adapter: some models, including the Buick LaCrosse and early Cadillac Seville, use a different connector and need our universal adapter, which is spliced in. Each kit covers one axle, so all four corners take two kits. Compare your connector to our photos, or send us your year, make, and model before ordering.
How to install the MagneRide delete kit
- 1Check the connector. With the vehicle off and safely raised, compare the factory shock connector to the connector on our simulator. If it looks different, you may need the universal adapter.
- 2Install the shock simulators. Unplug the 2-pin connector from each factory shock or strut and plug in a shock simulator until it clicks. C6 Corvette and XLR rear: remove the small plastic tab in the center of the simulator’s connector first, then plug it in.
- 3Secure everything. Zip-tie the shock simulators around their neck. Keep them away from the exhaust and other heat sources, and do not secure them against plastic wire loom or wiring. A metal surface is best.
- 4Lower the vehicle and clear codes. With all four wheels on the ground, start the vehicle. Suspension codes clear within up to 40 ignition cycles, with a scan tool, or by disconnecting the battery for at least 30 minutes. A Ride Height Trim Procedure with a scan tool is recommended where equipped.
We recommend installation by a certified technician. Full printed instructions are included with every MagneRide delete kit. Questions during installation? Contact us.

Frequently asked questions
Which cars does this MagneRide delete kit fit?
1997-2004 Chevrolet (Chevy) Corvette C5, 2005-2013 Corvette C6, 2004-2009 Cadillac XLR and XLR-V, 2003-2011 Cadillac STS and Seville, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2005-2012 Cadillac CTS and CTS-V, 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, and 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse.
Do I need to modify the rear connector on my C6 Corvette or XLR?
On many C6 Corvettes and Cadillac XLRs, yes: remove the small plastic tab in the center of the simulator’s connector, and the rear plug clicks right in. The front plugs in as is.
Will it remove the 80 mph speed limit?
Yes. When the suspension module detects a shock fault, these cars show warnings like “Service Suspension System” or “Shocks Inoperative” and limit top speed to about 80 mph. Once the MagneRide delete kit is installed and the codes clear, the limit goes away.
Can I use this kit on my truck or SUV?
No. GM trucks and SUVs also monitor 3-pin ride height sensors and need ride height simulators. Use our Z55, Z95, or Z45 kit instead.
Is this a MagneRide bypass resistor?
Yes, it does the same job. You may see these parts called MagneRide bypass resistors, delete resistors, delete modules, delete plugs, active electronic strut bypass kits, F55 delete kits, or shock simulators. Our MagneRide delete kit uses sealed, weatherproof OEM-style connectors instead of crimped wires.
Can I use it with coilovers or passive shocks?
Yes. That’s what the MagneRide delete kit is designed for. Customers run it with coilovers and standard shocks such as Bilstein on Corvettes, Cadillacs, and Buicks.
Do I need one kit or two?
One MagneRide delete kit covers one axle. Converting all four corners takes two kits.
What if my connector looks different?
Some models use a different connector style. Our universal adapter is spliced onto the factory wires so the simulator plugs in. Send us your year, make, and model if you’re not sure.
Which kit fits my 2013 or newer car?
Use our 2013-2018 strut bypass kit. The 2012 Camaro ZL1 also uses that kit, because it was the first model with the 2013-style connector.
Still not sure this is your kit?
Use Find My Kit, read the cars guide, or send us your year, make, and model and a real person will confirm the right kit before you order.
